A value-based culture brings you added value

During the course of us humans growing up, we engage in free thinking. With time, things happen along the way. We are taught how things are supposed to be. Slowly but surely, we start doing what everyone else has always done. It’s rather unfortunate as new thoughts are the first step in creating better businesses and a better world.

Engström & Hellman started its journey in 2008 with the ambition to be a progressive player in a conservative industry. We wanted to get to know our clients better and go into greater depth in order to always be able to provide wise and clear counsel. Moreover, we wanted to contribute to a well-functioning society motivated by a genuine interest in the fields of law we are active within.

We, as most law firms, consider our employees to be our greatest asset. What distinguishes us from our competitors is that we want to ensure favorable terms and behaviors. Therefore, as the first law firm in Sweden, we have entered into collective agreements and undergone LGBTQI Certification. The well-being of our employees is of the utmost importance to us, and we view it as a vital prerequisite to perform well.

Our vision is continually gaining traction. At present, Engström & Hellman is Sweden’s 50th largest law firm in terms of the number of employees. We enjoy disseminating insights and opinions and our staff writes everything from debate contributions to reference books which we are pleased to note that clients as well as competitors take a liking to.

Although we may inevitably remain inside the box in terms of legal matters, we intend to continue to proceed outside the box in terms of our way of developing the firm. This is our sweet spot so to speak. In our opinion, a value-based culture brings added value for you as a client.

  • Expansion with the opening of a new office in Stockholm
  • The first law firm in Sweden to enter into a collective bargaining agreement

  • The firm receives the Master Gazelle award after three consecutive appointments as a Gazelle company

Law firm of the year 2023

Each year, Regi conducts a quality and industry survey in which clients of business law firms are asked to share their perspectives on the relationship with the firm. We partake from time to time and were at the top as of late.

Collective agreements are a given

We entered into a collective bargaining agreement as early as in 2018 – as the first law firm in Sweden to do so. In our opinion, providing our staff with fair terms equals better services. We are surprised that so many of our industry peers have yet to follow in our footsteps.

LGBTQ+ Certification pioneers

In the spring of 2022, we became the first law firm in Sweden to obtain LGBTQI Certification. This implies that we have the tools to be able to work in a norm-critical, inclusive and non-discriminatory manner.
